Daniele Orsato to Referee England's Euro 2024 Quarterfinal Clash
Experienced Italian Official to Oversee Match in Dusseldorf
Daniele Orsato has been appointed to referee England's Euro 2024 quarterfinal match against Switzerland in Dusseldorf on Saturday afternoon. The Italian official, who is one of the most experienced in Europe, will be in charge of the last-eight clash at the Merkur Spiel-Arena.
Orsato's Officiating Credentials
Orsato has a wealth of experience at both domestic and international level. He has officiated matches in the Serie A, UEFA Champions League, and Europa League, as well as at the FIFA World Cup and European Championship.
In the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Orsato oversaw the controversial quarterfinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands, which was marred by a record number of yellow cards.
Assistant Officials
Orsato will be assisted by a team of Italian officials, including assistant referees Ciro Carbone and Alessandro Giallatini, and fourth official Daniele Doveri.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be Massimiliano Irrati, with Paolo Valeri and Bastian Dankert serving as the Assistant Video Assistant Referees (AVARs).
England's Challenge
England will be looking to Orsato for a fair and consistent performance as they aim to reach the Euro 2024 semifinals. The Three Lions have a strong record against Switzerland, having won their last five meetings against the Swiss.
However, Switzerland will be no pushovers. The Swiss have impressed in this tournament, topping their group and defeating defending champions Portugal in the round of 16.
With both teams hungry for success, the quarterfinal clash in Dusseldorf promises to be a thrilling encounter.
